Something seems off when I look at a 5 gallon bucket of rice and then look at the math for how long a person can eat from that bucket until empty.
When figuring this I am assuming the only thing to eat would be the rice and nothing else, only rice.
so here is my math-
5 gallon bucket = 30lbs rice = 48,480 calories
48,800 / 2,000 calories per day = 24.24 days for 1 person or only 12.12 days for 2 people.
When I look at the bucket of rice it seems like it should last double of what my figures are showing i.e. 24 days for 2 people instead of 1 person.
Can anyone confirm that a 5 gallon bucket of rice would only last 2 people only 12 days if they only ate rice?
Am I really looking at storing 150 buckets of rice to feed 10 people for one year if this was the only thing left edible?
